2022 Discarded tree, concrete, plastic

109cm (H) x 30cm (W) x 6cm (D) / " 43(H) x 12" (W) x 2.5" (D)

My works are mainly made from discarded wood and concrete.

The wood is a symbol of nature and the concrete is a symbol of artificial objects.

Humans destroy and manage nature to make their lives more comfortable, myself included.

Like food wrapped in plastic wrap.

This work represents the domination of nature by humans. And there is a small space between the wood and the concrete.

This is a message that "there must be a certain distance between nature and humans. It is a kind of social distance.

Humans should pay more attention to nature.

This work was inspired by a hanging scroll. The cement part signifies the artificial building and the stairway. At the top of that stairway is a clear gate. It resembles the one in a Japanese shrine. In shrines, the gate is called "Torii," indicating the presence of God beyond it.Beyond that gate, I placed a flower that had been discarded on the street of Manhattan. This flower is a symbol of nature.
